Lauren Cutrona, the talented designer behind the jewelry line, Twisted and Beautiful, is gratefully giving away her beautiful necklace, Gemma, which is worth $155.00! Gemma is featured in the photo above on me! I have to say, I’m a little jealous of whoever ends up winning this giveaway because I am in love with this necklace. It’s absolutely gorgeous and has been crafted so well. Anyhoo, you might recognize her jewelry from a show on Bravo, NYC Prep, where Jesse, one of the leads is rockin her stuff throughout the season. Lauren has also been sweet enough to grace us with an interview about her jewelry line, trends and getting started in the fashion industry which you can read below.

How to Enter

1. Leave a comment describing the outfit that you would pair Gemma with.
2. For an extra chance at winning, sign up for the Sweet Fuzz newsletter here.
3. For an extra, extra chance at winning, become a Sweet Fuzz fan on Facebook.
4. Giveaway ends September 26, 2009 at 12pm pacific time.
5. The winner will be picked at random.

SWEET FUZZ INTERVIEW WITH LAUREN CUTRONA OF TWISTED AND BEAUTIFUL

How did you get into designing jewelry?
I got into jewelry design because I wanted what I could not find… in my price point at least! I have always enjoyed making things for myself, and now have the pleasure of accessorizing others as well.

Your designs are absolutely amazing, what inspires you?
Some is just coming from within. Mostly I find inspiration in my environment and the rhythm that is my life. I live in down town NYC where there are NO rules for fashion. Street style here is sometimes unexpected but never disappointing.

When you’re designing, do you have a muse or is there a certain kind of girl that you design for?
Every woman has a little bad girl inside of her. I design for mine. I have always enjoyed bold pieces, whether clothing or accessories because they make a statement without having to say a word.

What kind of impact has being in New York had on your line, Twisted and Beautiful?
New York is a city where I am free to be me. I have always been a risk taker, and living here makes it so liberating. Almost everything goes ;)

How have you gotten through the ups and the downs of creating your own line and what advice do you have for someone starting out in the fashion industry?

It is only fair to say that I still do have ups and downs. It is just a part of the game. I think the key isn’t trying to avoid the challenges but rather to embrace them. You have to learn to have a thick skin, and stay true to your desires. Oh and don’t think about what everyone else is doing, there is enough love in the industry for you and them, you just need to go out and get yours!

Jessie from NYC Prep is obviously a huge fan of your work. How did you get involved with her and Operation Smile?

Jessie is like a little sister to me. She has always been a huge supporter of Twisted and Beautiful and any charity she does, I would support in a second!

We are giving away Gemma here on Sweet Fuzz, the gorgeous necklace you designed seen on Jessie on NYC Prep. Describe the perfect outfit you would pair Gemma with.

Well let’s see, I’m really a long tank maybe with a blazer/ cardigan (in cooler weather) and skinny jeans girl. I like simple lines for my clothing and letting the jewelry do the work. Maybe add a pair of hot boots and you’re out the door.

Fashion to me is about lifestyle as much as it is about expressing yourself. Which influences your fashion choices more and why?

I think my style is really about knowing and feeling out what looks good on me. I am not all too concerned with the trend of the moment, because I generally mix and match to find my own unique flavor. Some is splurge… some is second hand chic. That’s just me.

Fall, my favorite time of the year is coming up! What are your favorite Fall trends for 2009?
Love love love the over the knee boot, you can’t help but feel sexy in them. I also love the super structured black jacket/blazer that several designers are showing. It is my perfect chance to revive one of my favorite pieces of vintage. Lastly I obviously LOVE the chain, although I guess you could say I am a bit biased.

What’s in store for Twisted and Beautiful in the next year?

This is going to be a big year for Twisted and Beautiful. I will be experimenting with new chains and textiles. I love the design process so be on the look out for some new fabulousness!

Last but not least what is it about jewelry, that makes us girls go so gaga over it?
Whether it is a statement piece or something more delicate, we put it on in the morning because of how good it makes us feel. A great piece of jewelry will make me run back to the apartment even after being more than half way to the subway… You just feel naked without it!

A special thanks to Lauren who was a delight to work with and for being so generous!

I think that I would pair Gemma up with a denim skirt, moccasin boots (in light brown), a light brown boyfriend shirt with chain belt and the twisted and beautiful necklace. I truly believe that Gemma would be rockin in that outfit. Twisted and Beautiful has some awesome designs, and winning for my birthday would be a real bonus, since the giveaway ends the day before!!!!! Lauren Cutrona has outdone herself.

I’m really feeling the juxtaposition of girly and tough right now, so I would probably pair that necklace with a fitted leather jacket, a girly dress in a nice bright color or pattern (maybe a medium b/w houndstooth?), some black lace tights, and some badass booties.

That necklace is SO GORGEOUS – whoever wins it is one lucky chica!

I work in public relations, so making a statement really counts. This necklace simply stands out. I’d pair this with your atypical LBD. Conservative on the front – the perfect canvas for a statement necklace, but daring from behind. It’s a back-less Diane Von Furstenburg dress that’s really fitted and well-tailored. A pair of black leather booties and simple studs would tie up this look for the perfect PR pitch.
