Thrift stores are a great place to find those one of a kind items that no one else has. I love going there for accessories like belts, purses and shoes. Last time I was there I saw a Gucci bag for like 5 bucks! Anyway, I always forget that they only take cash, so every time I happen to stop by I only have like $10 or $20 on me. Believe me, I could spend $100 in there, but for under 20 bucks you can get an awesome collection of neat stuff. There’s a huge thrift store in San Diego called Amvets, they have an awesome selection and on Wednesdays it’s 50% off everything (except those items with a green tag). No matter where you live, there should be a thrift store near you. Definitely check it out for retro vintage items, you never know what you might find. See what I got on my last two trips below…
My trip this past Wednesday

These boots were originally $7.95, but I got them half off! So like 4 bucks for an awesome pair of boots and three people stopped me to tell me how cute they are while I was trying them on. Had to get them.

I’m a sucker for belts when it comes to thrift stores. They are so cheap and they always have the most unique belts I have ever seen. Some of them are worn, but I kind of like my belts a little beat up. Got this one for $1.95.

I love the gaudy buckle on this one. I’m a huge fan of pairing jeans, a simple tee and a flashy belt, so I had to get it. $1.95 baby!
My first trip to Amvets a couple weeks ago…

I only had 20 bucks on my first trip and I think I did pretty good. I ended up spending $19.68 and couldn’t get everything I wanted, but I’m definitely happy with what I got! The black leather handbag was only like $4 bucks and I think the shirt was $3. I love the shirt, very loose and has a really cute print on it.

When I saw this belt I had to get it. Love the gold details and at $5.95 it took up quite a bit of my $20, but so worth it.

Can you believe I found these at a thrift store? Talk about being right on the money, these strapped wedges are so in right now, I couldn’t believe when I saw them sitting there and hello! $3.95!!!

You are either tapping undiscovered resources, or hitting better thrift stores than me. I could never pull this haul in one go. Great work!
Thanks! Amvets is a huge warehouse size thrift store so there is a lot to choose from, but I still love hitting up the little ones as well.
there’s also an amvets in escondido that is pretty amazing! and of course all the stores in the hillcrest area of downtown (like san diego’s version of melrose)- rags, buffalo exchange, & flashbacks.
