Planet Threads: earth friendly fashion

In the past I thought of recycled or earth friendly clothes as just boring khaki pants or maybe a plain hemp t-shirt, but these days sustainable clothes are hip to the latest styles and trends. Planet Threads provides high quality earth wear by brands such as Nixxi, Toggery by Kate D’Arcy, ecoSkin, Topo Ranch, Kate Organic, Spreegirl and Doie. These brands create casual pieces that can be dressed up or down. Planet Threads also sells some great yoga gear by Avani active wear that offers organic cotton and recycled polyester items for the gym. You can shop by style, brand, price, and even green attributes, including items Made in the USA, made of recycled materials, organic cotton, with fair trade practices and more.

Planet threads was created by JoAnn Ciaramello, who’s love for the environment and fashion started at a young age. Her mother used to sew and make her own clothes and accessories when JoAnn was little. Also both of her parents practiced eco friendly lifestyles by recycling and eating locally grown food. JoAnn created Planet Threads to make it easy for consumers to purchase eco friendly clothes online. “My obsession with purchasing online began out of necessity, as a mom of two boys. I really understand online shopping for the busy life of the modern, aware consumer. In building PlanetThreads.com, I’ve created a clean, user-friendly site. I am committed to constantly finding ways to make it as easy and efficient as possible so it will forever be a work in progress.”

PlanetThreads.com grows every day, with expanded accessories, jewelry and clothing from the current designers as well as new brands. A home section is in the pipeline for Summer 2009. JoAnn is always on the lookout for products that fill a niche and enjoys discovering lesser-known brands with cult followings that are doing amazing things. Having strong relationships with her vendors means being able to offer larger selections from each designer at competitive price points.
