Coconut oil is a great natural way to condition your hair and it’s also beneficial as a moisturizer too. I use it as a deep conditioner before I wash my hair. I’ll slather it on my hair, wrap my head in a towel, use a blow dryer to heat it and let it sit for about 20 minutes. After I wash it, my hair feels super soft. Just a word of advice, make sure that you wash every inch of your head because your hair will be oily if don’t wash it all the way out.
Coconut oil is also a great protector for your hair against the sun and sea water. Ocean water can really dry your hair out, so it might be a good idea to be put it on before you get in the water. It has also been proven to get rid of dandruff and can promote hair growth when massaged into our hair on a regular basis.
Here’s my advice: To use as a deep conditioner, massage pre warmed coconut oil onto your hair and let it sit for 20 minutes or warm it after you put it on with the blow dryer. Do this on a weekly basis to keep your hair strong and soft. You can also use it as a light pre conditioner before you wash your hair, but just use a couple drops. I would not recommend using this a conditioner after you wash your hair because it will leave it oily.
Also, only buy virgin unrefined coconut oil so it contains all it’s natural ingredients and organic if you can. Below are some products I recommend. I like the Organix line because it uses organic ingredients, no sulfates and does not test on animals. I like the Nutiva brand of coconut oil because it’s organic and unrefined.
